Comienza con las consecuencias de la anarquía del año 1820, abarca la época rivadaviana y los años del rosismo y concluye en 1861, con la encrucijada tras la batalla de Pavón. Como en el tomo anterior, nuestro objetivo principal es ofrecer un espacio a las mujeres para que nos cuenten qué sucedió. En este caso, a lo largo de cincuenta años de guerras civiles durante los que el Virreinato del Río de la Plata dio origen a la República Argentina. A diferencia del tomo anterior, donde las voces de las mujeres aparecían en su mayoría en contextos judiciales -y, llamativamente, en asuntos criminales que las tenían como víctimas o culpables-, ahora aparecen en cartas privadas y también en la prensa escrita, indicio de que la sociedad patriarcal comienza a ofrecerles la posibilidad de expresar sus ideas.
