Naia the witch of Rochefort
At the very end of the nineteenth century, the writer and photographer Charles Géniaux stayed in Rochefort-en-Terre and discovered the existence of a mysterious creature lurking in the ruins of the village's old castle : Naia.
This ageless woman with no known address manipulates embers, foresees the future, seems to never eat and has the gift of ubiquity. It doesn't take much for her to be given a reputation as a spellcaster, a witch.
With this story, originally published in English in 1899 in The Wide World Magazine, Charles Géniaux leads a real investigation into the character of Naia, going to meet her, collecting testimonies, cross-referencing information. Without forgetting to take photos of the "witch of Rochefort".
