  • Notes
    • Tono-Bungay is a realist semi-autobiographical novel written by H. G. Wells and published in 1909. It has been called "arguably his most artistic book." Tono-Bungay is narrated by George Ponderevo, who is persuaded by his uncle to help develop the business of selling Tono-Bungay, a patent medicine created by his ambitious uncle Edward. Presented as a miraculous cure-all, Tono-Bungay is in fact a pleasant-tasting liquid with no positive effects. Nonetheless, when the young George Ponderevo is employed by his uncle Edward, he finds his life overwhelmed by its sudden success. The story is today regarded by many as H. G. Wells’s greatest novel and integrates the collection “Classics of World Literature”, developed by Atlântico Press, a publisher company present in the global editorial market, since 1992.
