Long live the Honorable Marcus Garvey, and his teachings! Gratitude to all our progressive ancestors who sacrificed their lives for us, on this long and tiresome road to African Liberation. Let us listen to the spirit of Garvey as he speaks to us from the depths of his grave, and admonishes us YOU HAVE AFRICA, you are in other continents and islands of the sea, you are millions upon millions strong, I appeal to you stop being the under-dogs and footstools of others, stop complaining, whining and talking about bad luck and misfortune - Shake yourself - get up start over, overcome the ills around you, you are responsible for what you are, what you want to be, blame no one but yourself, you have the chance, what you want is the will to do, and to dare others to stop you. That is why they watch you so carefully - that you may not get away with any progressive ideas which would be a surprise to the world of theirs. This is Garvey s legacy which he left for the African world. As Garvey s spiritual children, let us invoke his dauntless spirit of resistance and struggle, by paying gratifying respect and homage to him and our great progressive African ancestors, by accepting the challenge to liberate from mental and industrial slavery the down-pressed and down-trodden Africans wherever they reside.
